JOINING
1.1 – Engage Wrestling is an "invitation only" e-fed, meaning that you will only be able to participate or play here if you are invited. You might be invited by the fed head directly, or you may have been invited by an existing member of the fed. These are the only scenarios where you may enter and play here. We field questions over why this rule is in effect and the simple answer is to preserve a positive, friendly atmosphere. The hobby is filled with unpleasantness and we simply don't tolerate it here.
1.2 – We only accept applications for original characters. This means we won’t accept applications for derivative characters; that is, characters that are replicates of real wrestlers. John Cena and Triple H clones aren't welcome here.
1.3 – We operate a strict ONE picture base per character rule. This also applies to theme music and finishing moves. If someone has already claimed a finishing move, you are unable to use it in any capacity.
1.4 – The overall roster cap for Engage Wrestling is 24. Once the fed is at capacity, we ask that you stop referring members to join the site.
1.5 - Please ensure that your picture base has plenty of high resolution (larger than 800x600) quality images for the purposes of cuts and graphics. There is nothing worse than having to design something with horrendous, limited or - even worse - no images to work with.
1.6 – handlers may handle up to TWO characters at any one time, subject to roster space. If we are at capacity and someone is waiting to join, we may request that a handler drops their second character (provided they are happy to do so), so as to accommodate an addition handler.
APPLICATIONS
2.1 – When posting your contract application, it’s vital that you complete everything and do so accurately. Failure to do so will result in a delay to your application. As a reminder, you will only be booked for matches once your contract application has been approved.
2.3 – We do not operate with “Faces” or “Heels” here, as we prefer to adopt a more realistic feel to the game. Instead, we ask you to choose at LEAST five positive character traits and at LEAST five negative character traits. This will impact how your character is received by the audience from week to week, as well as your character’s behavior in your roleplays, the segments written for them and the storyline they’re engaged in.
2.4 – We give you 850 points to distribute to certain attributes. Each attribute category has a maximum of 100. How you distribute these points will directly affect how you perform in match results. You'll earn more attribute points as you advance through the fed.
2.5 – Handlers are required to post their fully completed contract no later than 72 hours after joining the forum. Failure to do so will result in removal of your account, in order to free the space for someone else.
2.6 – Having posted your contract, you have 72 hours from that time to EITHER opt in for a match on the next card OR post a debut roleplay if the opt in thread is not going to be active within that time. You can do BOTH if you wish, but you MUST do at least one of these two things. Failure to do either will result in your removal from the fed, in order to give your roster spot to someone else.
THE SHOW
3.1 – Our weekly show is simply presented in episodic format (I.E Episode 1, Episode 2, etc.) and airs on Fresh Sports 1 HD every Sunday night.
3.2 – The format of the show is summarized matches (between 600 and 1,000 words) and full segments.
3.3 – We post an “opt in” thread for these shows, which stays active for 72 hours. If you WANT be booked for the show, you need to let us know in that thread. If you don't let us know that you want to be booked, we will NOT book you. Simple stuff.
3.4 – The deadline for all events is on Saturday 7am EST, 12 noon GMT. The show will be posted the following day, anywhere between 3pm and 6pm EST.
3.5 – The RP limit for all events is TWO per character and the word limit is 800. The board prevents you from exceeding this.
3.6 – If you ask for a match and you do not roleplay for the event, you will be removed from the fed without notice. We take a zero tolerance policy on no showing. The exception to this is if you reach out to us in advance and let us know that you will be unable to roleplay for the event. If you have not role-played and you have not contacted us by the deadline, you will be removed.
ROLEPLAY GUIDELINES
4.1 – Please be aware that ALL roleplays must be posted directly on this forum. We do not allow outside linking.
4.2 – There is a STRICT 15-minute editing rule for all COMPETITIVE roleplays. Anyone who edits a competitive role-play AFTER 15-minutes from initially posting it will have that particular piece disqualified from judging. However, it will still count as a role-play against the two RP limit.
4.3 – In order to avoid sand-bagging”, “blitzing” or whatever else you wish to call it; we operate a 24-hour deadline. This means in the final 24 hours before the deadline, you are only permitted to post ONE more role-play, presuming you haven't already reached the limit of two for the event.
4.4 – You must have posted at least ONE roleplay before the 24 hour deadline. If you do not post at least one roleplay before the 24 hour deadline, you will be frozen out of the match, take an automatic loss and it will count as a no show. At that point, the no show rules apply to you (see rule 4.6).
4.5 – In order to avoid any confusion, we’ve set the following parameters for the often debated “on camera/off camera” rule:
Character Development/General Roleplays – OFF camera unless otherwise stated
Competitive Match Roleplays – Always ON camera
ROLEPLAY JUDGING
5.1 - Roleplays for our events are judged on a single highest score basis. This means that, regardless of how many you write, only your best score will count. In the event that both characters have the same highest score, it will fall to has the second best highest score. If second best highest scores are also tied, the fight will end in a draw.
5.2 – We score competitive RPs on the following factors:
GRAMMAR (Scored out of 20)
- Spelling (5): Make no spelling errors and you'll score full marks here. Simple
- Punctuation (5): Quite simply the correct use of punctuation in your piece
- Vocabulary (5): Use of correct words, or staying true to character dialogue, even if it’s purposely flawed
- Sentence Structure/Flow (5): How well the piece flows as a result of sentence structure and proper form.
CONTENT (Scored out of 30)
- Creativity (5): How creative where you with your 800 words? Did you choose to stick with 100% dialogue? Or did you think outside the box? We’ve seen poems, songs, quizzes, hidden messages, double meanings, storybook narratives, the list goes on. The more creative you are with your pieces, the higher you’ll score. Keep in mind that you can be creative, but also with something that's been done to death in this format. In that scenario, you'd lose some creativity points for essentially just copying ideas that have been played out.
- Entertainment (5): This is simple. If you kept our interest, you’ll score high. If you had us eating out the palm of your hand with every word, you’ll score high.
- Build (5): How much did you sell the fight? I don't necessarily mean "how much did you talk up your opponent?" because that's not what this is about. If I'm a fan and don't know about either character, how well did you entice me into tuning in to see your fight? Was there intensity? Was there controversy? Did you tell me why this is a 'can't miss' encounter? Respect isn't a factor. I don't want to watch a fight against two people who like each other. I want to watch violence between two enemies.
- Continuity (5): How does your piece encompass existing stories within the fed, including your own and your opponent’s?
- Relevance (5): How relevant was the piece, overall, as it pertains to the match? Was it all a little random and self-indulgent? Or was it cleverly linked to the fight in question?
- Realism (5): How realistic is the piece? This is fairly relaxed given the nature of an 18+ fed, but did you commit a crime on camera? Are you defying the laws of physics? Etc. It needs to be believable
ARGUMENT (Scored out of 10)
- Facts (5): You'll be awarded points for every fact you make AGAINST your opponent (I.E things that can be proven, not your opinion), as well as points for how many sources you used to get your facts. If you only use attributes, you won't score as highly as you would if you use multiple sources from the contract, Engage: Grilled comments, press conference comments, match records, biographical history, previous results, etc.
- Valid Points (5): You'll score points for using the facts you've obtained to make valid points from them. A fact on its own is all well and good, but what does it mean? Make valid points against your opponent and tell me why you're going to beat them.
5.3 – If you feel aggrieved to have lost, please contact management privately to discuss the matter. We will then give you detailed feedback as to why the decision didn’t go in your favour. Anyone who makes their gripe public knowledge or causes drama over it will not be in this fed for very long.
SEGMENTS
6.1 – To confirm, your characters will be entered into a storyline and the segments in each of the shows will be written by the fed head. This will always be the case while you are in this fed.
6.2 – For the avoidance of any doubt, your character will only ever be used in accordance with the information in their contract application, as well as how you yourself have portrayed them.
6.3 – While we write out the feuds and storylines as the weeks’ advance, we will be loosely guided by you. Interactions in roleplays and press conferences may act as a driving force for your feuds. Keep this in mind when you interact.
GENERAL INFORMATION
7.1 – Engage: Grilled is a facility much like Ask.fm, whereby people can log in to the anonymous forum account and pitch a question on the Engage: Grilled board to characters, who are obligated to give answers. This is a great tool for building feuds and promoting fights, so use it.
7.2 – If you do NOT activate your Press Conference exemption clause, your character is obligated to attend Press Conferences. How this works is simple. You’ll be pitched a few questions by members of the media and all you have to do is reply to them in the thread, adhering to the following code of conduct:
- You will always answer EVERY question honestly and frankly, with the goal to promote an event or a fight/feud at the forefront of your agenda.
- You will maintain professionalism, which means no ridiculous or illegal behavior in response to any of the questions. Keep profanity to a minimum (occasional is fine).
- You will respond to your questions within 48 hours of being asked them.
7.3 – Failure to adhere to the Press Conference ‘Code of Conduct’ will result in financial sanctions (fines) that will be at the discretion of management. Don’t lose the money you’ve earned!
7.4 – We are not on Twitter as a fed and I, as the fedhead, don't use Twitter at all. If you want us to recognize something your character is doing, post it on the in-house social media given to them. If ever you get confused, just remember this simple rule: if you did it on Twitter, we didn't see it so we can't acknowledge it. Want it to be seen and acknowledged? Use the in house social media profile instead.
7.5 – Opportunities and “pushes” will be given to people who are as productive in character as they are out of character. It's not enough to just “be active”, particularly if you're negative OOC. We want to encourage people to be active in the fed community both IC and OOC in a positive light. After all, this is just a game.
7.6 – If you ever need time off, simply let the fed head know via private message. If you no longer want to be a part of Engage Wrestling, just send me a private message too. I understand that, sometimes, a fed just doesn’t click with you. That’s fine – just let us know.
7.7 – In addition to rule 7.5, pushes and title opportunities will also be afforded to people based on a ranking system, where points are rewarded as much for match results as they are for effort within the fed. Those who finish high in the rankings at the end of a cycle are more likely to be featured in main event fights/title fights in the next cycle. That’s important to remember, too. What you do in the current cycle only affects your opportunities in the next cycle.
7.8 – Rankings points are given for the following:
Per Fight – 2 points
Per Win – 5 points
Per Tie – 2 points
Per Match RP – 1 point
Per Max Out (do all two RPs for a fight) – 3 points
Per CD Roleplay – 1 point
Per Press Conference Completion – 2 points
