I thought the fans were great, the show ran smoothly and all in all, we can be happy with the first show. I also think it can be better and believe that it will get better with every show.
Some talent performed as expected, some underperformed and some were just superb. I think we can be honest with each other and accept that, when the tournament bracket was drawn, most people would have expected Neville Proctor and Becky Konrad to advance. Not only did that not happen, but Trixie destroyed her opponent in incredible, shocking fashion. I'm not convinced she'll have it that easy this week though, given that Lara Chambers is a 10 year pro and not a rookie.
Dick winning the Fusion X Championship in the manner that he did is fine, in my honest opinion. At the end of the day, fans voted for the prizes in the cases and he only had a 25% shot at getting it right. He also had to beat a credible, legitimate opponent to make that choice. The Fusion X Championship is an interactive title belt and the fans weighed in on the match, so for me it's not a problem. He'll have to be a fighting champion to hold onto it, and that's the real challenge.
I'll even pull back the curtain a little for everyone on what the other cases contained.
Case 1 had the number one contender contract for the Fusion X Championship. Case 2 had $1,000 cash. Case 3 had nothing inside it.
Rumour had it that Voidstar was eyeing up briefcase 3, which would have sucked for him.
In the tradition of other great combat sports promotions, if you were asked to, without including yourself if applicable, to look back at Engage 1: Origins and award both a Match Of The Night and a Performance Of The Night, which match and which athlete would you award them to?

If we're giving the Match of the Night to the two competitors who were most evenly matched, then it's Lara Chambers and Neville Proctor.
Performance of the night, for me, doesn't go to Trixie because she wasn't really given a test in that fight - which is as much to do with her opponent as it is to do with Trixie's performance. I have to say that Caite Blackbird was the most impressive of everyone last night.
Jeremy. The Aqua Drop deal, has much developed on it since Trixie got axed? Has Engage found someone else or is the deal going sour?
As of this morning, a shortlist of candidates has been presented and the view is to have a new face in place by Sunday. The deal is developing and is very much in the works.
