Why did Engage Wrestling sign you?: Walt is an unemployed former junior varsity wrestling coach who, with the "loving support" of his "devoted" wife Lana, has secured the representation of wrestling manager Mickey Conway, so that Walt can pursue his life long passion of wrestling on a professional level (although Lana may have her own agenda).
The truth is, there is no logical reason why Engage Wrestling would want to sign Walter Hobbs on his own. His manager, Mickey Conway, was able to secure Walter a tryout on the promise that Mickey is on the verge of signing a more formidable, sought after prospect to a contract, and would bring him over to Engage as a "package deal." Walt is simply the favor in return.

Personality Overview: Walter's an average Joe, somewhat of a putz, mild-mannered, affable and conciliatory to a fault. He is trusting and non-confrontational, seeking out the best in everyone.
Why they’d be cheered: He's very likable. He's not angry or egocentric. He is very genuine and humble. He represents the average Joe.
Why they’d be booed: The wrestling diehards may have a problem with his lack of pedigree. The cynical fans who like their wrestlers to have more flare and attitude, and who root for the "bad guy" because that's the cool thing to do, will find Walter to be the perfect whipping boy.

Valet/Manager Purpose: To dispense tactical advice, and make sure Walt gets a fair shot.
Wrestling Experience: 0
Wrestling Style:
- The Sports Entertainer: Relies on their charisma and showmanship to mask their limited wrestling ability. They can fight, but not to the level of some of their skilled peers.
- The Technician: Relies on a catch-as-catch-can style of wrestling, featuring a variety of suplexes, submission holds and ground based wrestling.
- The Spot Monkey: Relies on shocking high spots, daredevil antics and dangerous risk taking to compensate for lack of technical wrestling ability. Will put everything on the line to entertain fans and overcome the challenger.
In-Ring Attitude: For Walt, wrestling is a competition. He believes in sportsmanship and fair play, and will always seek to shake an opponent's hand before the match. His only wrestling experience is in amateur wrestling from his high school days, and as a high school wrestling coach, so he is not accustomed to the cutthroat nature of the professional game. As the matches progress, self-preservation will kick in, and he will do what is necessary to defend himself out of instinct.
Tendency to End Fights:
- Outlast: Uses their superb conditioning to wait for the opponent to tire, before ending the fight on their terms.
- Out-luck: The majority of Walt's wins, particularly in the early stage of his career, are likely the result of opponent's plans backfiring, or Walt simply being in the right position at the right time; or using his jiu-jitsu skills and flexibility to catch an opponent in a choke or lock.
In-Ring Strengths:
-Heart and Durability. If nothing else, Walt has the heart of a lion-- perhaps more than good senses should allow. He doesn't know when to give up. Walt has lived a very "accident" prone life, and has cheated death many times. He'a a jogger who lives a boring, clean cut lifestyle, and he also built up a very high tolerance for physical pain and punishment, which has proven to be an asset in the ring, as he can take a licken' and keep on ticken' (although boy does he feel it the next morning).
- Flexibility. In high school, Walt was nicknamed "Gumby," as he is very flexible and double-jointed; and while he maintained a mediocre-at-best win-loss record, his claim to fame was that he was never pinned. You can bend him, fold him, crank his arm in any sort of directions, and like Houdini, his body finds a way to escape. This helps him not only defend against submissions, but throw his legs up from all sorts of angles to catch opponents necks and arms and place them in compromising positions.
- Luck. Call it fate. Call it karma. Call it good fortune. Luck exists, and Walt is living proof of it. An opponent misses his mark and knocks himself out, tries for a suplex and his leg gives out on him, goes for a small package to aggressively and momentum results in a reversal. It's not often tactical on Walt's part-- it's often a matter of being in the right place at the right time-- luck is alive in Walter Hobbs.
In-Ring Weaknesses:
- Inexperience. While he has an amateur wrestling background and therefore an understanding of basic mat-wrestling moves, Walt has no experience with professional wrestling move sets on any level. He may know fundamental suplexes, take downs, and cradles, but pile drivers power bombs and neck breakers are not in his vocabulary; nor does he have the ring smarts that come only with time and experience.
- Physical Limitations. Walt's 37 years old entering a young man's sport. He's not particularly strong, or fast, or agile, or a hard hitter.
- Naivete. Walt is all too trusting and fair-minded. From the opening handshake to the instinctive "clean break" during a turnbuckle tangle, Walt is all about fair play, and will almost always assume that his opponent is on the same page.
