The Dawn of Darkness

The scene opens with a view of an empty gym. The place is dingy, its floors stained and the walls discoloured from years of thankless service. The camera moves further in, past the machinery and focuses on a single wrestling ring in one corner of the room. Coming to a stop, the camera sits barely high enough to glimpse the second rope.
The screen flickers and images of a figure moving back and forth can be momentarily seen, interspersed with static noise and quick fades in and out. The screen flickers again and now the figure is stood dead center, crouching toward the camera - easily identified as the man they call Voidstar.
"The tangled tapestry of life weaves and twists through time; a grand design, unseen by most. Doors open, mysteries are revealed and plans unfold. Like sheep, most of you follow, more than happy to simple drift on the waves, clueless as to where you will end up. But some of us, people like me, we are the ones who direct the current.
"Over time, making waves and playing with the same sheep grows tiresome. It becomes necessary to move on, to find a new place to spin the yarn. I have found that new place, my new chapter: Engage Wrestling. The first step in this new pattern? Dick Devereaux, hardcore match."
He smirks, and his laughter echoes around the room.
"Now those of you who have seen me before, you will already know that I accepted this challenge with a smile on my face and fire in my belly. But for the ignorant among you, and there are many of those, war is why I live and make no mistake, this match will be a war. There will be blood and guts, agony and despair. It will be violent, it will be glorious and it will set the benchmark for all Engage matches that follow.
"But...I must admit, somewhere deep down, I fear the worst for this Dick Devereaux. Is it courage, Dick, or insanity that makes you think that you can challenge me? Do you have any idea who I am?! Can your tiny mind even fathom the true horror you've just unleashed upon yourself?
"Worse yet, I must say that I've been nothing but disappointed by you so far. I expect a worthy challenge, but you? No, you have been found wanting. All you have done is talk and talk and talk and talk. You're going to break my face, you're going to bloody me up. It's all just noise, Dick. Your mouth may very well be your best weapon, but it's useless here. Do you truly believe that I fear you, Dick? Are you really so delusional?"
He shakes his head.
"What you need to understand is that when you've seen horror like I have, when you've stared into the maw of an eternal abyss, into the unimaginable void of absolute darkness, then there is nothing left to fear in the world. Your words, your fists, your anger...they all pale in comparison. I do not fear you, Dick, for I fear nothing."
The maniacally laughs, the sound echoing around the room.
"And yet, like a fool, you have rushed to do battle with me, not understanding just what that means. Do you know the problem with fools, Dick? Inevitably their hubris, their stupidity, will always prove to be their undoing."
Images of Voidstar standing with his hands on his hips flicker on screen.
"For for all of your empty words, idle threats and cocky rhetoric, you've done nothing yet to prove yourself to me. There is no glory in running your mouth, Dick, and ultimately your words prove nothing. We are judged by our actions, not our mouths. Show me, show me that you're not just all talk. Show me that you have more about you than these threats. Show me that you even deserve to be in the same building as me. But Dick, don't make the mistake of thinking that breaking my body will come as simply as you believe. And even if you do—"
Voidstar can be seen smashing a chair into his own head in the middle of the ring, just laughing as blood trickles from beneath the mask.
"...hell, you wouldn't be the first, but that will not stop me."
Voidstar smears the blood on his whitened face.
"Because nothing will stop me. I am Voidstar, the scourge, the dark star. I am a hunter, Dick, a predator..."
He scoffs and leans in toward the camera.
"And you? You are the prey."
Void laughs and, with that, the camera flashes to darkness for a second and he disappears, leaving no trace that he was ever there.
