Keegan Ryan.
You and I have a few things in common. For one, we both got the fight that we wanted in each other. Secondly, we both have reputations for being extremists. And I will tell you this, Ryan... it's a bloody good thing that you say that you're willing to sacrifice mind, body & soul to beat me.
Because you're going to have to.
See Ryan, it's one thing to say that you're going to put all of Engage in a stranglehold, but unfortunately, that's all you've done, is say it. Sure, you've got a reputation as a tough warrior, but reputation isn't enough & anyone... from the most grizzled veteran to the greenest rookie... can say they're going to do just about anything they want, and maybe they can actually back it up some of the time.
But me? I'm gonna go you one better. I'm gonna tell you exactly how I'm going to beat you.
A lot of people probably don't give you credit for just how cerebral a wrestler you are, Ryan. But I've gone back & watched a bunch of your matches, and I've seen it. Your mental game is sharp & that may serve you well here in Engage. Against other opponents, at least. But lets face it, you & I, with our specific in-ring styles & our thirst for outright violence? This isn't going to be a cerebral fight, any more than it's going to be a display of flippy-shite wrestling or a submission battle. No, any fight between Caite Blackbird & Keegan Ryan is going to be an outright bloody brawl, a fact you've all but admitted yourself.
And given that fact, and having studied you & your matches, here's what my animal instincts are telling me: You're strong, but I'm stronger. You hit hard, but I hit way, way harder. You're fast, but I'm faster. Your technical wrestling skills are good, but my are better, sharper. And all that would be enough, Keegan. All of that would be enough to beat you. All that is enough for me to go into this fight knowing that I have what it takes to put you down. But none of that is even the real ringer, Ryan. None of that is what's actually going to make the most difference in the end.
'Cause the fact is, Ryan, I'm much more than the 'tough' fighter that you 'hear' that I am. I'm the toughest, most athletic fighter on the Engage roster, bar none. No one can last longer than me, no one can absorb more punishment then me, and no one can recover from damage inside the ring better than I can. Sure, you might think that's all just talk, but I dare you, or anyone else on the roster, to prove me wrong on that account. And what that means for you is simple: You'd have to exert more energy than you're capable of exerting, for longer than you're capable of doing it, to inflict any sort of long lasting damage on me in that ring... and you'd have to do it while contending with my greater strength, speed, technique, and the fact that I'm a more lethal striker than you.
You say Engage is yours? Prove it. Come take it from me.
You can't. You could of. You have skills that would have given you an edge. You could have come with a different strategy, and maybe had a chance. But you want this fight to be exactly the type of straight-ahead, toe-to-toe hardcore brawl that I want it to be. You need it to be that type of fight just as much as I do. It's all wrapped up in how you want to present yourself, who you want to be seen as. The real dilemma for you is the fact that in that sort of fight, I outclass you in every single category that matters. You can say that you're better than me all you want to, it doesn't make it true. But all the evidence? All the actual truths about who you and I are inside that ring, what makes us the fighters that we are? It all rings true in my favor.
For eight years I've been fighting in the underground scene, against guys who, just like you, would claim that I just wasn't 'good enough' to beat them. Like you, they never actually explained what skills it was they thought they had that could counter mine. And time and time again, beat them is exactly what I did. I see your skills, Keegan. The fact that you can't see mine is only part of the reason you're going to fail. The fact that I'm actually better than you, in truth, is the other.
