So Engage 1: Origins is now posted and available to read.
I'd love it of you could all take 3-4 minutes out of your day to give us feedback on the show, as we worked hard on it for your entertainment, so your feedback, for us, is kind of like validation, or at the very least acknowledgement.
I wanna take this moment to thank Andy for writing all the matches. He took care of them and I wrote all the segments. I will also hold my hands up and admit that Andy wrote the hardcore match as a singles match, realised the error, went back to change it but ran out of time. I was going to re-write but I'm drained from everything else, so I just doctored the singles match a little. It's not the best hardcore match you'll ever read, and we can only apologise for that. It won't happen again.
But yeah, feedback please! It means more than you know.
I just wanted to say here since it will get buried in the shoutbox (most likely) that I have NEVER in all my time in this game read results in this format. That being said, this was the most unique presentation I've ever seen. Really, really love how it actually FELT like a real show. Other than the hardcore match, I thought the rest of it was fantastic. The segs were incredible and I really loved the intro to the Dons and seeing who they chose. My hat's off to you and Andy for a job well done.
Absolutely fantastic! The way everything flows together was perfect and you can definetly tell that hard work has been out into this. The matches were awesome, the segments were each well written, and the flow was stupendous. I've never seen results flow better.
Excited for the next one. Good job to everyone involved!
Big thanks to Andy for writing and his little message to me as well about the show prior.
I really enjoyed how the Dons were used in the show, at the start and how they've got their own horse in a way to win the tournament. That was really good to see. How they all bickered and stuff was funny.
I haven't actually read any hardcore matches so Andy and Jeremy, it was the best one I read, if that makes you guys feel a little better! I had no idea who'd win it or see the strap be given to Dick for winning so that element was a good pay off, at least for me. I was betting on $1000 to be given, saw it a little funny if Void got the money instead of a title shot.
I'm probably the only one here who doesn't know IWA backstory and I was quite glad that the segment with Lara wasn't like that, where I was out of the loop (probably am and having a blonde moment) and then the catch up from Deathcore post match, I did read the post so I knew Axel and stuff. Glad it didn't go too far into it. Laughed hard at his lawnmower line, Bobby one (Love the Dons). Bobby and Lara teaming up.
The match was good, made me dislike Mr. Clint Knox for his punching vag comment. Lara advances but had to earn it. Neville didn't go down easy did he? I did think she would tap when he slapped on that submission, trying to remember the name, Choke something.
Keegan and Caite was interesting, became a mini hardcore fight didn't it with the outside fight? Thought Keegan was winning it at that point but Caite winning means girls 2 - guys 0 lol so far.
The news breaking of Aqua Drop was a surprising one, and how its developed into a new spot lol. I never expected that. The idea got majorly fleshed out with Martin Gaspard and Issac lol. Very impressed/smug about how that happened (Poor Trixie, girls just wanna have fun). Patrick is such a sweetheart lol, so is Jeremy (did write jimmy there ok) for making Trixie's case. Setting the scene for devastating news.
Caite and George was great. George was resourceful and Caite even threw him a compliment lol. Caite is his irish charm, nice nickname I hope he keeps. And then I agreed with Clint for his comment of taking a risk lol.
My match was nice, from what Andy told me, I expected the worst and was amazed by the actual match. It was a squash match but it was worth reading, at leas I thought so Tying in the whole 'incident'. Then it lead into the segment, which I was hooked on lol. Patrick showed a little glimpse of not happy at the start but then was a sweetie, interesting is the word to use there lol. Jeremy giving some bad news, which was to be broke hard by Patrick, wondering why he wanted it that way, hopefully I'll find out. Then the news that Jimmy had to give, totally well done as to how Trixie would act to her big win. Lol'd at the Jimmy joke, a running gag in the show now lol. And then the sad news of losing her first big thing hit. My favourite segment to date.
Did not expect this. Void can vouch, I though the two would have brawled prior to their fight not after. I dislike Void more now haha from a fan perspective. I'm starting to fall on this Walter bandwagon as well with his little part at the end, passing out like he did lol
I thought I was done with 2 segments and forgot about the dons. Ernie coming over (on?) to her was so sweet, flowers. Awww. Cheering Trixie up and making her his pick. If I'm right, only George told Caite about the wager right? Ernie got Trixie with his charm. I loved how Trixie didn't see him hitting on her/checking her out either as well, because of the news.
Becky got put in hospital? I didn't think that is how she'd be written out. Trixie's more dangerous than I thought lol.
Lex and Valentine had a really good match, more macho in my impression. Uppercut City, better get that on a T-Shirt for Collins. Post match, Christian attacking didn't see. Honestly I didn't see both attacks coming. Tony I forgot about (sorry Tony) and got himself his horse lol.
I thought this was a great way to kick-off Engage. With limited time, everything that happened OOC and stuff, it was a really solid piece of storytelling. I got so many ideas now based off what happened and looking forward to my next tournament match up.
What we can take away from the show other than the tournament, the hardcore match is lots of dinner dates got set lol (Tommy and Lara, Ernie & Trixie)
Very nice first show. A lot of energy and it flowed nicely. Great job capturing the voices of all of the behind-the-scenes characters, including management, the announcers, and the Dons. All of their voices were consistent with what I was envisioning, based upon how they've been presented in the company information.
Was nice seeing Tommy Quinn showing up, and continuing the DC story. I'll always have a soft spot for Tommy, having followed him for so long.
The Aqua Drop bit was nice. I love seeing ramifications for Trixie's actions. I like that all decisions that we, as handlers, make for our characters have repercussions-- it shows you're reading everything and looking to work off of what we put out there-- as usual.
You did a nice job with Walt. Completely in character the way he was written.
I thought the show was an excellent debut, minor niggles about the hardcore match aside (which you explained, so that's fine with me). This despite the issues earlier in the week, so that's doubly impressive.
I enjoyed the segments and the way that the characters interacted. I'm not used to the fed head writing the,, but I'm a big fan of that now.
For myself, I don't really care about taking a loss in a fair battle, but well done Dick. I did appreciate that Void still got his own back later on, the devious little son of a gun that he is. I thought that, despite the loss, he still looked dangerous. And with the win, Dick looked dangerous, so we both came out strong.
Trixie's involvement throughout the show was particularly funny. Especially since it basically came from me taunting her in character.
Well, where to start? I have always enjoyed the way Deathcore did results.- and I am more than happy that Davey kept the format. The segments add that element of surprise that people were eager to see. This place is full of good people, roster and managment. We give each other the right amount respect and devotion. Davey already knows that I love this place, but it wont hurt to make it public.
I have always been rather protective of my Chambers girls. Not happy when someone used them. But the way he writes people, you get a feeling for the character.
Thank you to Andy for the awesome match. That is exactly the way I see Lara to be. Not giving up. Using every advantage possible.
Even the people that lost didn't feel like losers. They were looking strong. And be honest.- a good story does heal the wounds of losing every now and then.
So enough babbling Got people to annoy and butts to pinch.
I really enjoyed the results, it all flowed really well and I think was a great base for kicking off the characters. I also think you portrayed everyone really well - from what I could tell anyway. The matches were well written too, kudos to Andy for that.
As always, you're clearly paying attention and that just serves to inspire handlers, and in turn, give you more to work with.
