Keegan is pacing back and forth in the guest bedroom at Lara’s place in Los Angeles, California. It has been days since he talked with Lara about the demise of his sister Keelie, what was even harder is the fact he had to keep it a secret from Rebecca. He hate having to do stuff behind her back but it is for the best that she doesn’t know or get involved in this whole thing, that’s the last thing he wanted on his conscience is for Rebecca to get thrown into the mix when she really have no business in being in it.
Ever since Keegan was a kid he had a sudden hatred for Keelie for the simple fact that their Mother decided to take Keelie with her and not him. Leaving him with his abusive Father who would beat him on a daily bases out of a drunken rage, for years he resented Keelie. It all boiled over when Keelie found out what Keegan done to their Mother and want nothing more than to make him look bad, she tried everything in her power to make him look like a bad guy and all those attempts has failed.
Even went as far as to keep his daughter Madison away from him because she thought he was ‘unfit’ even when he told everyone that he changed. He really changed and he tried to prove it to Keelie but in the end it all fell into deaf ears and she was still hell bent on making him miserable. She almost succeed, but it backfired on her.
Sure his past didn’t look good in the eyes of others but he tried to be a good guy and show everyone that even someone as wicked as he is can change but it didn’t matter to Keelie and the last straw was on Father’s Day when she decided to take Madison to Santa Fe and spend some time with their abusive Father which that left a bitter taste in Keegan’s mouth even went as far as showing pictures and tell him that he won’t be able to see her on that day.
Ever since that day his hatred for her grew and grew until he couldn’t take it anymore. He wanted something done before it got way out of hand or he has a mental breakdown which is something he doesn’t want.
He is starting to get very anxious, he haven’t heard anymore update about the situation, all he know is that Nora is or was in the area and that is it. He kept pacing back and forth, in a world of his own as he is really making holes on the carpet by him pacing back and forth. He heard footsteps coming his way, he stopped if it’s Rebecca coming he didn’t want her to see him like this, he waited as he heard the footstep getting closer, he looked at the door as he saw the doorknob turning, he waited to see who is behind the door.
LARA CHAMBERS
It's me Keegan. Open up.
He heard Lara’s voice, he walked over to the door, he grabbed the doorknob as he turned it he opened the door. He looked at Lara who is standing at the doorway.
KEEGAN RYAN
She’s nowhere within ear shot right?
LARA CHAMBERS
No. She is shopping for the wedding. But not sure how long we got. So let's cut this short.
She stepped in closing the door. Sitting down on the huge bed. Crossing her legs.
LARA CHAMBERS
It's done darling. No more worries.
Keegan let out a huge sigh of relief, it’s all over for the past two years or so he was tormented by Keelie and her plans to ruin him once and for all. It’s all over and he don’t have to worry about her bothering him anymore. He turned around to look at Lara with a big smile on his face.
KEEGAN RYAN
Perfect, it was kind of nerve wracking not knowing what the fuck was going on you know? But I understand why you would keep me in the dark for a little bit.
LARA CHAMBERS
The less you know, the better. Did you do what Nora told you? Being in the public with Rebecca a lot. Have pictures taken and such?
KEEGAN RYAN
I did indeed, I got proof where I was when all of this happened. No one will suspect a damn thing from either of us.
Lara got up from the bed, smiling. She wrapped her arms around him.
LARA CHAMBERS
I told you this is family Keegan. We will never let you down.
He smiled at this wonderful news, now the tricky part is playing the role of a distressed Brother who found out his sister was murdered, but he’ll think about what to do when that time comes. Right now he is just really happy that it’s all over and that he doesn't have to hear from Keelie anymore.
LARA CHAMBERS
You know how much power I needed to convince Nora? So you better make the best out of this. It is a chance for you and Rebecca for a new life.
KEEGAN RYAN
Oh, I had no doubt that she would get the job done. I wasn’t all too worried about that at all. But I do want to thank both you and Nora for helping me with this problem, one less problem I have to worry about now.
She gave him a gentle smile. The kind she only held for those she loved. Forgetting her own problems.
LARA CHAMBERS
We just gotta be smart about this. Let some time pass before we get your daughter back. Concentrating on our roles to play.
He nodded his head, that part sting a little but he understands why they have to wait, it would be too risky considering the fact of what happened and everything. He looked down at the ground kicking an imaginary pebble, he raised his head up to look at her.
KEEGAN RYAN
I know it’s going to be hard but if we get her now it would look too suspicious and this whole thing will be blown up.
He takes a deep breath as he ran his hand through his hair.
KEEGAN RYAN
What’s also going to be hard is playing the role of a distressed Brother, showing emotions and all that jive trying not to laugh about it.
LARA CHAMBERS
We help you with that. You must convince Rebecca that you are broken. That will be hard.
KEEGAN RYAN
Very hard, considering the fact that I hardly ever give that feeling at all. Got allot of work to do in order for this plan to go foolproof and not raise any alarm.
She took his hand in hers. Rubbing his palm. Still smiling.
LARA CHAMBERS
I promise this will work out. And you guys can have a family.
Keegan gave a weak smile, family something he almost had ten years ago before Madison was born. He shook his head as he kept his focus on Lara, giving that smile a little more life to it.
KEEGAN RYAN
Of course, it will be amazing, also I don’t have to worry about people trying to ruin my life.
LARA CHAMBERS
And take good care of your relationship. You gotta treasure this chance. You won't get too much.
He nodded his head as he listens to everything that Lara is saying, he gotta treasure this, it’s not like he would get another chance if he blew this one up again. He kept that smile on his face.
KEEGAN RYAN
I will, trust me I am not going to lose Rebecca again.
LARA CHAMBERS
You lost her once. Now you got a career and the girl of your dreams. I envy you sometimes.
He chuckled slightly at the comment.
KEEGAN RYAN
Envy little ol’ me? Now I am flattered just kidding.
He laughed a little.
LARA CHAMBERS
You know I have a hard time to trust people. Not only in the business. Which makes me jealous. Wondering about my happiness.
He let his hand go from Lara’s as he put both of his hands on her shoulder as he looked at her in the eyes.
KEEGAN RYAN
You’ll find happiness Lara, trust issue I get it. But I’m sure you will find that someone who will make you happy.
LARA CHAMBERS
What if I killed the one man that could have been my happiness?
The silence filled the air, that question lingered over. He didn’t say much about the matter, after a moment of silence that felt like a long time he then begin to speak.
KEEGAN RYAN
We all make mistakes Lara, some things we can’t undo and just have to go with the what if situation.
LARA CHAMBERS
I must sound like a wuss. Damn it.
She laughed out somewhat sarcastic. Rubbing her head.
LARA CHAMBERS
To better subjects. Excited for August?
KEEGAN RYAN
Yes, Very excited.
They heard the entrance door opening. Both froze a moment.
LARA CHAMBERS
Okay. Put your normal face on. As you don't know yet what happened. Have a great day with your fiancé. Treat her.
KEEGAN RYAN
I will thanks again Lara.
He gave her a quick hug as he let go of her. He turned around and walked over to the door, he grabbed the doorknob as he takes a deep breath giving a normal look as he opened the door and went out of the room.
