"Bra & Panties Match (favours Trixie)"
That, right there? It's all anyone needs to know. That's one of the three options on the Engage Wrestling website where the fans can vote on a stipulation for my match against @toxicdoll that will see one of us advance in this mini-tournament to compete in it's finals next week, where one of us will face either @damianpayne or @keeganryan for the Fusion X Championship. Of course, we won't know for a few hours yet how the fans have voted, but I want you to consider something here for a second. A Bra & Panties Match is a match where two female opponents try to tear each other's ring gear off until one has been stripped down to their underwear. The participant who tears off their opponent's clothes first is the victor. This means, if it is to be believed that this match 'favors' Trixie, that she either specializes in ripping women's clothes off, or, in keeping her own clothes on. I suspect it's not the latter.
Me? I specialize in getting motherfuckers bloodied up.
But it's exactly this sort of rampant misogyny that, for years, kept me wrestling in the underground. I came up in a wrestling world so violent that literally no one cares if you are a man or a woman, so long as you can hold your own inside of that ring & keep your wits upon the bloodstained canvas. Clearly, judging only by her apparent specialty inside the ring, Trixie & I come from very different worlds.
Frankly, I must have misjudged Engage & what they wanted the Fusion X Division to be about, the very fact that they would sign Caite Blackbird only to possibly put her into such a sexist match in her debut for the company. I can't say I'm not disappointed. Not just for the idiocy of it, but because even if the fans do vote that way, it's a simple nut to crack. I've got a pair of well-worn skin-tight leathers that take me a good half-hour to shimmy myself out of once I've worked up a sweat... I promise you, if I show up wearing those, Trixie's gonna need a knife to get 'em off me & if she brings one, then we're right back into my world anyway.
Problem solved.
Now, as always, I've done my due diligence. Trixie has only been wrestling a year, so there wasn't a ton of tape for me to review, but as always I reviewed what I could over a steak & some Jamesons, and having done that, here's what my instincts are telling me. First off, it's a well known fact that Trixe relies heavily on her ground & pound, but truth be told I don't think she has the grappling strength or technique to get me down, keep me down & impose her will. I think I dominate her in both of those categories & on top of that, she'll have to shoot through my strikes to even attempt a take-down, and I don't suspect there's anyone in Engage who's a more powerful striker than I am. In other words, regardless of the type of match, I'm confident that Trixie's prime weapon of choice has already been neutralized.
Another thing I noticed... Trixie seems to have the attributes & the natural ability that would make her a natural high-flyer. Except that if you watch her matches, watch the moves she actually has in her arsenal, she NEVER goes up top. I mean, I may get called the Blackbird who never flies & it's true, but this girl is like a hummingbird with a broken wing or something. There's also the fact that my sole finisher is very similar to one of the finishers that Trixie uses. Of course, I have better technique & I hit way harder... so it's a safe guess who's step-off knee strike is more lethal. Hell, she even skips the step-off. And let's also not forget one simple fact... the gaping hole in my game? My lack of any real submission skills? It's made mute by the fact that Trixie suffers the same fatal flaw. Neither of us is going to be trying to submit the other.
Most importantly, this: Trixie is all about sex. She uses sex to dumbfound & frustrate opponents, she uses sex to incite the crowd. But I don't mix business with pleasure. Fighting & sex are separate activities for me... I don't sexualize what I do in that ring & as rough as I might like my sex, it's nothing compared to what I do during a fight. So Trixie? Bad news. Your siren antics will have no effect on me. I'm coming to fight, nothing else.
I very strongly suggest that you do the same.
